The BT Switch Off

The BT Switch Off - Everything you Need to Know!

In order to modernise and improve the UK’s telecoms offerings, BT is in the process of switching off their traditional phone lines (both PSTN and ISDN). This is a vast project spanning years and is set to be complete by 2025. But what does this mean for you, your business and your communications?

They Key point to note is - 'complete by 2025', this upgrade work is happening now all over the UK. The analogue switch off will affect your Business if not now, very soon. Some very simple changes will remove any risk of impacting your business communications.

PSTN stands for Public Switched Telephone Network and is the traditional landline setup you may currently have at your business. ISDN, on the other hand, stands for Integrated Services Digital Network.

Both of these systems are extremely old. PSTN can be traced back to the very first phone lines that came about in the 1800s. ISDN has been around since the 80s but isn’t anywhere near as advanced as the newer telecoms solutions available on the market.

If your Business receives FTTC broadband, known as (Fibre To The Cabinet) you will need to upgrade the service. FTTC broadband has an analogue element which supports the broadband. The analogue switch off will affect the FTTC broadband and you will need to upgrade. Go Cloud Communications can process the simple broadband service upgrade, and provide the replacement broadband router to support the upgraded broadband. We advise FTTC broadband users upgrade as soon as possible.

If you are already a Go Cloud Communications Customer and using the Go CloudPBX, Good News! Your business voice traffic is already future proof and the analogue switch off won't affect your Business Telephone Calls.
